매일매일 부처님말씀(2014년 2월22일)

Akkosaka of the Bharadvaja Brahmin clan heard that the leader of the clan had gone forth into the Sangha of the 

recluse Gotama. 

Bharadvaja 브라만족의 Akkosaka는 씨족의 리더가 속세를 버린 부처님의 상가에 들어갔다고 들었다.

 Angry and displeased, he went to where the Lord was and reviled and abused the Lord with rude, harsh words. 

 화가나고 불쾌해져서,부처님이 있는 곳에 가서 왕에게 무례하고 험한 말로 욕설하고 모욕을 주었다.

When he had finished, the Lord said: 

그가 말을 마쳤을때, 부처님이 말하였다:

"What do you think, Brahmin? Do you receive visits from friends and acquaintances, kith and kin and other 

guests?"

"브라만이여,어떻게 생각하느냐? 그대는 친구나 지인,그리고 친척과 손님들의 방문을 받는가?"

"Yes, Gotama, sometimes I do."

"그렇소,고타마여. 때로 방문을 받습니다."

"And what do you think? Do you prepare for them hard and soft food and give them rest?"

"그러면 어떠냐? 그들에게 딱딱하고 부드러운 음식을 준비하고 휴식을 주느냐?"

"Yes, Gotama, sometimes I do."

"그렇소,고타마여. 때로 그렇게 합니다."

"And if they do not accept these things from you, whose do these things become?"

"그런데 그들이 이러한 것들을 취하지 않는다면 그것들은 누구의 것이 되느냐?"

"They become mine."

"제것이 되지요."

"It is the same here, Brahmin. That with which you revile, scold and abuse me, who does not revile, scold or 

abuse, that I do not accept from you. It is yours, Brahmin. It belongs to you. One who reviles when reviled, who 

scolds when scolded, who abuses when abused - it is as if a host and a visitor dined together and made good. We, 

Brahmin, have not dined together nor have we made good. It is yours, Brahmin. It belongs to you."

"그것과 같다,브라만이여. 그대는 욕설하고 꾸짖고 학대했지만 나는 그것을 받지 않는다. 그것은 그대것이다, 브라만이여

. 그것은 그대의 소유이다. 욕설할때 욕설하는 사람, 꾸짖을떄때 꾸짖는 사람, 학대할때 학대하는 사람-그것은 주인과 손

님이 함께 먹고 즐기는 것과 같다. 우리는, 브라만이여,함께 먹지 않았을뿐만 아니라 함께 즐기지도 않았다. 그것은 그대

것이다,브라만이여. 그것은 그대에게 속하여 있는 것이다."

clan : 씨족

recluse : 속세를 버린

revile : 욕설하다

kith and kin : 친척
