Calling Card

Keichu, the great Zen teacher of the Meiji era, was the head of Tofuku, a cathedral in Kyoto. 

Meiji 시대의 위대한 선사인 Keichu는 교토에 있는 절인 Tofukud의 주지였다.

One day the governor of Kyoto called upon him for the first time.

어느날 쿄토의 도지사가 처음으로 그를 방문했다.

His attendant presented the card of the governor, which read: Kitagaki, Governor of Kyoto.

그의 시자가 도지사의 명함을 보여주었는데 Kitagaki, 교토 도지사라고 적혀 있었다.

 “I have no business with such a fellow,” said Keichu to his attendant.

  "나는 그런 사람과 볼일이 없다." Keichu선사가 시자에게 말했다.

 “Tell him to get out of here.”

  "그에게 여기서 나가라고 해라"

  The attendant carried the card back with apologies.

  시자는 사과와 함께 그 카드를 다시 가져갔다.

 “That was my error,” said the governor, and with a pencil he scratched out the words Governor of Kyoto.

  "내 실수였다." 도지사가 연필로 쿄토 도지사라는 글자를 긇어면서 말했다.

 “Ask your teacher again.”

  "스승께 다시 얘기해 주시오."

 “Oh, is that Kitagaki?” exclaimed the teacher when he saw the card. “I want to see that fellow.”

  "오,Kitagaki신가?" 선사가 명함을 보며 외쳤다. "그 사람을 보고 싶구나."
