Curiosity

Once there was an old man who lived at the top of a very high and dangerous precipice. 

옛날에 매우 높고 위험한 절벽 꼭대기에 사는 노인이 살았다.

Every morning he would sit at the edge of the cliff and view the surrounding mountains and forest. 

매일 아침 그는 절벽의 끝에 앉아서 주변의 산과 숲을 보곤 했다.

One day, after he set himself down for his usual meditation, he noticed something shiny at the very bottom of 

the precipice. 

어느날, 보통때처럼 명상할려고 앉았을때, 절벽의 바로 밑에 뭔가 반짝이는 물건을 알아차렸다.

Now even though it was very far below him, the old man had keen eyes and could just barely make out what it was.

그게 매우 멀리 떨어져 있었음에도 불구하고, 노인은 매우 예리한 눈을 가지고 있어서 그것이 무엇인지 겨우 알아낼수 

있었다.

 It looked like a rather large, black chest with gold trimmings, just sitting there atop a rock. 

 그것은 다소 크고, 금빛의 고명처럼 생긴 검은 큰상자였는데 바위 위에 있었다. 

The old man thought to himself, “Where did it come from? What could be inside?”

노인은 혼자 속으로 생각했다. "어디서 왔을까? 안에 무엇이 들었을까?"

precipice : 절벽,벼랑

trimmings : (요리의) 고명
