I Don’t Know

The emperor, who was a devout Buddhist, invited a great Zen master to the Palace in order to ask him questions 

about Buddhism.

열정적인 불교도인 한왕이 불교에 대해 묻기 위해 한 유명한 선사를 궁에 초청했다.

“What is the highest truth of the holy Buddhist doctrine?” the emperor inquired.

 "고귀한 불교교리의 가장 높은 진리는 무엇입니까? 왕이 물었다.

“Vast emptiness… and not a trace of holiness,” the master replied.

 "광대한 공...그리고 고귀함의 흔적이 없는것입니다." 선사가 대답했다.

“If there is no holiness,” the emperor said, “then who or what are you?”

 "고귀함이 없다면, 당신은 누구이며 무엇입니까?" 왕이 물었다.

“I do not know,” the master replied.

 "모르오" 선사가 대답했다.
