Eshun’s Departure

When Eshun, the Zen nun, was past sixty and about to leave this world, she asked some monks to pile up wood in 

the yard.

비구니선사 Eshun이 60세가 넘어 이 세상을 떠나려할때, 그녀는 몇몇 승려들에게 마당에 나무를 쌓을것을 요구했다.

Seating herself firmly in the center of the funeral pyre, she had it set fire around the edges.

장작더미 가운데 바르게 앉아서 가장자리에서 불을 지피도록 했다.

“O nun!” shouted one monk, “is it hot in there?”

 "선사시여!" 한 승려가 외쳤다. "그곳이 뜨겁습니까?"

“Such a matter would concern only a stupid person like yourself,” answered Eshun. 

  "그러한 문제는 당신같은 어리석은 사람에게나 해당되는 얘깁니다." Eshun이 대답했다.

The flames arose, and she passed away.

불꽃이 일었고 그녀는 입적했다.
